The whole concept of &quot;needs&quot; is difficult for me. What things are genuinely needs, anyway? I mean, I may want something, but there I very few things I genuinely NEED. And if it&#039;s a serious NEED, how can I be detached from whether or not it gets met? What if I need things that are outside of my control? Of course this person doesn&#039;t have to fulfill my need, but maybe no one will. Is it still a need?

Maybe I&#039;m just hung up on needs vs. wants. Is there a critical difference? Could you substitute the word &quot;want&quot; for &quot;need&quot; with the same results? To me, &quot;I need . . .&quot; almost always sounds like a want dressed up to sound more urgent or important.
